Htraeus Reborn

Chapter 1: Leaving the Arena Life Behind
One More Trip Down Crap Creek...
Our heroes regained all of their old possessions and more from Clavius’ office. As they debated how to get out of the city, they heard another dragon’s scream coming from outside of the arena, and a voice coming over loudspeakers commanding everyone in the city to come to the square outside of the arena to hear from the White Queen Lilith herself. The party wanted nothing to do with all that, so they attempted to go back the way they came, but they ran into two guards, brothers Carol and Carolus. they killed Carol and demanded that Carolus show them a way out of town. Caroljuys, having worked in the sewers before, showed them the sewer path to the crap pond outside of town near the quarantined slums. After sneaking past the slums by pretending to be live action role playing, Carolus introduced them to his friend Orrisian, whose carriage would take them out of town. They bargained with him to take them all the way to the land of the dwarves, for Kaizer knew of a goblin wizard who once told him that all in the world was out of order, and that a mountain in the dwarven country could help in setting things right. The gang went in to a pub to grab some grub while Terrathiel and Orrisian went to gather some things for the long trip. Kaiser, Torir, and Drissant got into a bar fight after being recognized by guards. After killing the guards and setting the entire bar into turmoil (Kaizer also attempted to set it on fire, but Torir put the fire out before they left), they ran out and meet up with Terrathiel and Orrisian, who had just returned from grabbing supplies and convincing Orrisian’s children to not go on the trip with them. Kaizer invited Carolus to join them on their trip, and Borf the bear decided to join them and leave his past behind him. Thus Kaizer, Torir, Terrathiel, Drissant, Carolus, Orrisian, and Borf headed out in a carriage to the north.

Chapter 1: Leaving the Arena Life Behind
A Faceful of Acid.
The Green Dragons dropped the party off at the mouth of their lair, and the mother, Garnreth, demanded that they leave now so that she may tend to her foolish son. Kaizer, however, thought that they were deserving of praise from the Dragon for saving her son. The Mother vehemently expressed that it was not they that saved him, but her efforts and power. Kaizer was unsatisfied and continued to demand praise. he was meet by a powerful blast of scorching green acid that knocked him unconscious and almost killed him. The party then decided it wise to leave as quick as possible. They set up camp out in the cold wilds while attempting to decide what they should do next and where the should go. During the night watch, Drissant noticed a large figure watching them in the distance. When the morning came, the figure appeared to them: it was a large bear man dressed in animal skins named Borf. Borf, whose family had been captured and put into the arena battles, had been watching them to see if they were a danger or not. He healed Kaizer and gave them the first good, free rest they’ve had in years in his homely den. After a couple of days rest, they all decided to travel back to Ilitasium in hopes that they could require their old equipment. They convinced Borf to join them. When they got to the city, they saw that it was in terrible ruin after the dragon’s attack. They went around the side of the city and snuck into the second story of it’s Castle, Castrum Deorum. Inside the castle, they snuck into the basement, killed the forge master, stole some money, armor, and weapons, and went down into a tunnel then ran underneath and far away from the castle. They followed the tunnel along until the reached what they eventually found out to be the very place they had been wanting to go: Orates Bellum. They quickly found the office of Clavius.

Chapter 1: Leaving the Arena Life Behind
On the Wings of the Green Dragon
In the huge arena Oratus Bellum in the Human Capitol City of Ilitasium, Clavius the battle master promised that the next battle would be the best who he’s ever put on; and he warned the combatants that this fight might kill them… and that he wouldn’t mind if it did. The Arena Doors opened, and the team of King Kaizer, Torir the Gravity Dwarf, Terrathiel the Telepath, and Dirty Drow Drissant were welcomed with thunderous applause, cheers, and boos. The entire arena was raving for the coming event. A loud roar was heard from the other side of the arena. The door opened to reveal a young Green Dragon. The Dragon expressed his anger at being forced to fight and kill for other’s amusement, and the team suggested that they not give their oppressors the fight they desire. The Dragon agreed, and Clavius could be seen exploding with anger in the stands. Then the Statue of Bane awoke and warned the team that they wouldn’t get away so easily. It’s head turned towards the Dragon and commanded it to fight; the Dragon attacked without hesitation. The team did their best to not attack the Dragon, instead destroying the statues of Bane and Lilith in hopes that it would break the spell on the dragon. Their attempts were in vain, and they decided it best to attack the beast. At that moment, a thunderous roar was heard in the distant, and soon the huge Mother Dragon swopped over the arena, blasting the stands with acid, thus breaking the concentration of the mages who controlled the arena’s magic barrier, and breaking the speed that was over the young Dragon. They took this moment to simultaneously blast the cause of their years of torment: Clavius. Clavius was obliterated, with nothing but ashes left of his remains. The team then convinced the dragon and it’s mother to help them escape, while also causing as much damage to Ilitasium as possible. And so they escaped the cycle of arena battles that would have one day ended their lives… all for the entertainment of the ravenous followers of Bane.

Intro
Htraeus Falls

In a distant galaxy lies a strange world that at first appears much like our very own. It’s history, however, tells of a world of great tragedy, incredible hope, and magic. It is a world of elves and dwarves, humans and orcs, and a great many folk of beastial form. It’s a world of towering mountains, enchanted forests, jungles, swamps, underground civilizations, and mystery.
In this land, legends and myths make up the past, and the foundation of the world holds many forms. Some say a mighty God created all things. Some say that life appeared out of a void. Some worship great beings that control all aspects of existence, while others say that such beings are under the command of a higher power. But what happens when myth and fact meld before your very eyes?
In the year 843-K2, the mighty Witch Queen Lilith, ruler of the white elves, called out into a world greater than herself in search of a power that would help her unite the world… and power responded. Bane, the God of Power, showed himself to the world, thus proving that the gods do exist. Lilith, with the guidance of Bane, united the world… by force… ensuing a new era of unity between all nations. But at what cost?
It is now the year 336-L1, and the world seems out of order. A new myth has grown. The generations of the years before unification have all passed away, but their tales have remained. Many have heard from their grandparents of a time when wine was sweeter and the world was brighter. Plants grew taller, and gems shown like the sun. There were seasons of warm and cold. Disease was not rampant, the wilds didn’t encroach upon civilization, and life was worth the living. And Bane was unheard of.
This is our world. The dwarves call it Erdenheim. The elves; Territhia. Orcs; Eganhath. Yashchertza; Zemlyasch. Alreshi; Ardasha. But the common term is Htraeus, and it is a sad, grey world.
